Hospital for Scaffold Worker after 6 Metre Fall from Scaffolding Tower

A worker was rushed to hospital with
potential head injuries after falling six metres from a scaffolding
tower on the 26th June.

The incident took place on the
Newmarket Road, Cowlinge so it was the East of England Ambulance
Service NHS Trust who was called to the scene to treat the man.
They took a call just after 2pm and went immediately to the
scaffolding site.

Well Looked
After

The man was attended to by a number of
services including an ambulance crew, East Anglian Air Ambulance,
and a doctor from Suffolk Accident Rescue Service.

The injured man is reported to be in his
40s and was first treated for a cut on his head. However, he was
observed to be lacking alertness and clarity, and was therefore
taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge to continue his
treatment.

A spokesperson from the ambulance service
has been quoted saying that the man’s injuries are not thought to
be life-threatening.

Take Care – and Respect the
Dangers

This incident just highlights the dangers
of working at height and the importance of taking the proper
precautions in order to ensure safety on scaffolding sites. A
scaffolding tower of 6 metres represents a significant risk to
those using it and it’s not a task that should be undertaken
lightly.

Employers are charged with ensuring the
safety of employees on site and requiring the use of the correct
safety equipment. It’s a responsibility that must be taken
seriously.
